Abstract
An analysis of the value of dust magnetic susceptibility has been carried out in Konawe and North Konawe Regencies. This study aims to determine the distribution of magnetic susceptibility values and the level of dust pollution. Samples were taken at 35 points and divided into 16 points for Konawe Regency which includes the sub-districts of Unaaha, Wawotobi, Wanggeduku, Pondidaha, Amonggedo, Beserutu, Sampara and Bondoala. North Konawe Regency as many as 19 points covering the districts of Motui, Sawa, Lembo and Wawolesea. Measurements were made using the Bartington MS2 Susceptibility meter with the MS2B sensor. The measurement results show that the magnetic susceptibility value of low frequency dust (cLF) has a range of 14x10-8m3kg-1 – 770.1x10-8m3kg-1. The frequency dependent (cFD) of the dust sample indicates that the magnetic properties of the sample are more dominated by fine and coarse mixed semi-paramagnetic (SP) minerals (10% - 75%). A small and positive linear correlation between cLF and cFD is the presence of ferrimagnetic multidomain (MD) grains, a fairly small linear correlation indicates a very weak relationship between the dependent and independent variables. Based on the magnetic susceptibility value on the cFD (%) pattern on the scattergram, the study area has experienced pollution from low polluted to highly polluted categories.
